Doctors Alex and Casey Erickson are the owners and practicing veterinarians at Cambria Veterinary Clinic. After relocating to the Central Coast in January 2016 and purchasing the clinic, we could have not felt more welcomed into a community that truly adores their pets. In 2023, we are happy to add another associate veterinarian to our team, Dr. Elizabeth Hoose. We are committed to high quality medicine and patient care, and also believe that you should have a doctor for your pet that you trust to offer you guidance and options in caring for your 4-legged family member. We are hard-working, honest and compassionate when it comes to advising you on anything from preventative care to difficult end-of-life decisions.
We are a small family business committed to the community and we hold a special place in our hearts for the pets and people that walk through our doors. We hope to gain your trust and fellowship and become your pet’s lifetime veterinarian!
Dr. Alex grew up in Los Banos, California and could be found cleaning kennels and helping out at his father’s vet clinic from a young age. Following in his father’s footsteps, he attended Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies and then graduated from UC Davis Veterinary School in 2008. During veterinary school, his studies focused both on farm animal and small animal medicine. After graduating he moved to Sonora, California, at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains where he practiced at a busy small animal veterinary clinic for 8 years. Alex has additional continuing education training in small animal dentistry and ultrasound.
Dr. Casey grew up in Carlsbad where she spent all her free time riding and taking care of horses. She attended UC Davis for undergraduate and veterinary school. She graduated veterinary school in 2009 with Phi Zeta Honors and received the CVMA award for practice excellence. After graduation she completed a rigorous internship at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale. She practiced in Sonora for the next 5 years where she was credited with bringing high quality equine services to previously under-served areas, serving a call radius of 80 miles. As a true mixed animal practitioner, she sometimes practiced on dogs, cats, horses, sheep, goats, cows and even a pig in the same day. In 2017, she completed an intensive course in veterinary medical acupuncture through the Curacore Instititute, becoming a certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist (cVMA) for both small and large animals. She is the daughter of an OB/GYN and a high school science teacher.
The doctors have two young children, a cat, a dog and two horses to keep them busy when they aren’t at the clinic! In our free time we enjoy gardening, camping, hiking, cooking and the company of friends.

Dr. Elizabeth Hoose grew up in Morro Bay and is happy to be returning to the central coast! She attended Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo for undergraduate where she obtained a BS in Animal Science. Following her bachelors, she caught the travel bug and attended the University of Glasgow, Scotland where she obtained her veterinary degree with honors as well as an honors business certification from the VBMA. After returning to California, Dr. Elizabeth practiced as an ambulatory large animal veterinarian for two years, with a focus on horses. Now back on the central coast, she is excited to help the dogs and cats of Cambria.
When she’s not at work, you can find her hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping with her corgi, Minnie! Dr. Elizabeth also enjoys dancing (ballroom, latin club, and country) after a long work day.
